At the end of a very long day, one of my favorite ways to wind down is by making a hot cup of fresh mint tea, light a few candles and soak into a warm bubbly bath. This feels particularly nice in the winter time, when the days can make you endlessly cold and a little bit tense. Along with being a lovely way to decompress, taking a bath can also be beneficial to your health in a number of ways.
Baths Promote Restful Sleep
Winding down the day with a long bath can help you get more relaxed, which will help you fall asleep easier and get more restful sleep. Adding a few drops of lavender oil can help manage stress, promote relaxation, and aid sleep. Bring a glass of red wine, or a cup of hot tea, dim the lights and play some relaxing tunes. This is one of my favorite ways to decompress and helps me sleep like a baby.
Baths Ease Sore Muscles
Warm baths can help loosen up tight muscles from that tough HIIT workout earlier in the day. I am often sore from my workouts and always find it very soothing to take a bath with epsom salts. This is especially beneficial because epsom salts have magnesium in it, which absorbs into the skin and helps to relieve muscle tension.
Detoxifies
Epsom salt bath can relieve constipation and they help to eliminate toxins and heavy metals from the body. For best results, add two cups of epsom salts into bath at least once weekly and soak for 30-40 minutes. Make sure to drink plenty of water after the bath to prevent dehydration and increase detoxification.
Baths Improve Mood And Optimism
Magnesium helps to produce serotonin, which elevates the mood and creates a feeling of happiness. Bathing with epsom salt at least three times a week can help you feel happier and improve your energy levels.
Bathing Cleanses And Moisturizes The Skin
Essential oils and moisturizing bath salts can be a great way to give your skin that silky smooth feeling. The combination between hydration and the added oil can keep your whole body looking and feeling beautiful. One of my favorite bath soaks is Aura Cacia Relaxing Lavender Salts and you can find in most health stores.
Soothe Dry, Itchy Skin
An oatmeal bath can soothe dry and irritated skin. Make sure to use colloidal oatmeal and not the oatmeal you eat for breakfast. This refers to oats that are finely milled and then suspended in water, which will help it to dissolve evenly.
Reduces Inflammation
A new study found that a soak in a hot bath has similar anti-inflammatory effects to moderate exercise. This type of response, helps the body ward off infection and illness. So, a daily warm bath can help keep the season’s cold and flu away.
It’s interesting how you said that a warm bath can help you loosen up tense muscles. Taking care of your body is important and eliminating cramps is probably a part of it. That way you can walk around and run around as you want without anything bothering you.
