Is your skin screaming for help after you get off a long flight? Most people I know usually get puffy and bloated, their skin feels super dry and their lips are cracked after a flight. Unfortunately, flying can bring out the ugly in everyone. The pressurized environment on a plane sucks moisture out of the skin, leaving us with cracked lips and super dry skin. All you need is a little planning to step off the plane looking refreshed instead of a mess. Turn your plane ride into a spa by following my favorite HWN travel tips!
How I Keep My Skin Glowing When I Travel
Hydrate – Drink a lot of water during the flight. Pick up a 1 L bottle of water before you board the plane and ask the stewardess to refill it. Also, sip on lemon-ginger tea during the flight to help prevent bloating. Remember, the dry plane air dehydrates you from inside out, so continue your water intake and stay away from too much alcohol. A glass of wine may help you sleep, but don’t go overboard sipping on cocktails for the entire flight.
Aquaphor – My number one product I never leave the house without. Apply on lips and cuticles during long flights to prevent them from cracking.
Remove Makeup – It is important to remove your makeup during a long flight. I usually don’t wear any but if I do, I use Josie Maran wipes to remove it and refresh my skin.
Dr. Colbert Facial Discs – After I remove my make up, I lightly wipe my face with Dr. Colbert’s facial discs, and it is as if I used a facial scrub on the plane. Each individual disc is infused with Bromelain – a concentrated form of pineapple enzyme that eliminates dull skin, dryness and environmental toxins. The individual packages are so convenient to travel with and take on the go.
Avene Thermal Water – This product is great for hydrating the face during traveling and leaving the skin feeling silky smooth. I spray my face a few times throughout the flight.
SK-II Facial treatment Mask – A soft and luxurious facial mask that instantly moisturizes skin resulting in a radiant complexion. Use on a long flight to lock in the moisture, it is particularly great during the winter months when the skin is naturally dryer.
MZ Skin Golden Eye Treatment – Another great product for traveling. I put this on during my flights to smooth and minimize the appearance of fine lines. It helps with hydrating the skin and reduces puffiness, which many people experience on flights.
Biologique Recherche Creme – This creme will prevent the creation of blocked pores and inflammation, and leave your complexion feeling unified. You will find that redness is reduced, pores are tightened and unblocked, skin is hydrated and softened. This crème is ideal to use on long flights to help detoxify the skin.
