Most of us can agree that there are only a few things better than a good coffee to kickstart your day. At the same time, there’s nothing worse than a sad looking coffee when the plant milk you bought doesn’t froth or mix well! Being an avid coffee drinker, I put together a list of my favorite plant-based milks that froth wonderfully, as well as a few creamers that will take your morning cup of Joe to the next level. The products are linked for you to easily purchase them. Cheers!
Milks:
Califia Farms Organic Homestyle Almond Milk
This is a cult favorite as, in addition to almonds, it contains only oats, sea salt and coconut cream. You can imagine how beautifully this concoction would froth and compliment the taste of a dark roast. One cup serving contains 114 cal, 4g carbs and 2g fiber. All Califia farm products are USDA certified organic and GMO free.
As the name suggests, this product is Califia Farms successful attempt to allow you to make a serious cup of cafe level coffee from the convenience of your own home. We’re talking latte art, impressing guests with your coffee connoisseur skills etc. This is a full bodied blend and contains 70 cal per 1 cup serving and 7g carbs.
MALK organics has a line of milks that, unlike many plant milks, contain no binders or carrageenan. It is made from sprouted nuts which have a nutritional advantage over raw nuts. They have cashew milk, almond milk and blends of different flavours and sweetnesses. All of MALK’s milks blend and froth equally well so the choice is yours!
I love all of the vegan milks at Elmhurst, but the Milked Hemp Barista Edition is especially unique and nutritious. A 1 cup serving contains 650mg Omega-3 alpha linolenic acid, 130 cal, 14g carbs and 3g protein. Hemp is a great source of vegan Omega-3’s, which supports brain and heart function. It is specially crafted to serve as a steamer and creamer.
The Almond Drink from Rude Health is super creamy. They used a blend of crushed almonds, rice, pure mountain spring water, and a dash of cold-pressed sunflower oil. It is free of thickeners and sweeteners and is relatively low calorie with 56 cal per 1 cup. Due to the addition of rice, it has a higher carb content with 10g/serving.
This lesser known brand has an amazing almond milk for coffees. Made using organic almonds, it contains 60 cal per cup, 0g saturated fat and just 1g carbs. It is ideal for those on keto.
Creamers:
This dairy and additive free unsweetened creamer is insane! It is made with almonds and coconut. As a bonus, it contains just 10 cal per 1 tbsp serving and 0g carbs and fats! I highly recommend this time saving option for rushed days when you’re unable to froth milk in the morning.
Califia Farms Hazelnut Better Half
The hazelnut flavour of this creamer adds a delicious, roasted flavour to my coffee and takes it to a whole new level. Like Nut Pod’s creamer, it is made using a blend of coconut and almonds. A 2 tbsp serving contains 15 cal, 0g sugar and carbs and 1.5g fats out of which 1g is saturated fat.
Tentative vegan wannabe here. Stayed with a couple of vegans who are in amazing good shape for their age, and interested to try out the lifestyle. Love the ingredient details. Thank you and keep up the good work
I want to make my own nut creamer with my almond cow. What ingredients make a nut milk froth?
