Holiday season goes by so fast, and though it is a time meant for enjoyment and relaxation, it can get pretty stressful. Amidst the rush, excitement, gift selections and dinners – it can all get very crazy! Being someone who loves hosting get-togethers for my closest ones, I’ve found ways to help ease the stress that they can entail. My gift to you this Christmas is a list of pro tips cumulated over the years that ensure a stress free, smooth and just divine holiday season!
Schedule “Me Time”
During the Holidays, your social butterfly is unleashed and in full swing. While socializing and being connected with others is great, it can drain your batteries. I love setting aside a day to myself to help me find balance. Treating myself to an infrared sauna or lymphatic drainage massage are great ways to decompress. You should indulge in whatever is your meaning of TLC – maybe a walk through the farmers market, reading a good book in your PJs or a wholesome baking session!
Plan in Advance
Events, picking up gifts, fittings, elaborate grocery lists – the sheer number of duties can get pretty overwhelming. I always use a planner to organise my days. It helps give me a sense of control over everything while allowing me to make sure I’m not overcommitting. I love any Kate Spade planner!
Keep Your Body Moving
Though Holiday season marks one of the happiest and most social times of the year, many are affected by seasonal affective disorder because of the sudden change to seriously cold weather. Exercise is a known stress reliever and mood booster – thanks to releasing endorphins. Here is a list of my favourite holiday classes during the Holidays.
Share The Responsibility With a Co-Host
If I didn’t already mention my love for hosting family and friends over – I will say it again! Happy guests are my favourite! I have found that co-hosting is a great way to share the planning and organising while spending quality time with a friend! They can help out decorate the Christmas tree, cook with you in the kitchen or make a flower arrangment.
Nourish Your Body
While it is a must to indulge in all the delicious festive food, it is important to nourish your body with healthy, balanced meals to stay in best form during the season. You should check out the recipes on my blog for some healthy meal inspiration. I find meal prepping ahead of time prevents me from eating out too much.
