No one deserves a break more than you do! Aside from BBQs and a bid farewell to summer, after months in the heat and sun (and probably too many cocktails), there is nothing your body needs more than a healthy rest. It’s no coincidence it’s called Labor Day! For those who don’t have the day off or your business doesn’t permit for you to be offline, you can still show yourself some extra needed care and good nutrition this weekend.
As far as small self-care gestures go, here are a few easy ones:
Sleep In
It is totally OK to sleep in without feeling guilty. Let your body soak up all the Zzz it needs Sunday before the start of the new week and season.
Get A Manicure
There is something about a fresh coat of polish that sets the tone for a great week. Take the time at the salon to listen to your favorite podcast or simply tune out the busy noise of life with your favorite music. Opt for that extra 10 minute foot massage and remember you are worth it!
Boost Serotonin Levels and Endorphins
Start your Sunday or Monday with a workout. Your body and belly will thank you later. Did you know 66% of American’s BBQ on Labor Day? Along with all that fun comes a lot of chips and mindful indulgences that may leave you feeling tired and sluggish for the rest of the week. I often find that exercising also helps me make better food choices throughout the day.
See below for my favorite crowd pleasing Labor Day Recipes! I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend with friends and family xx
Salmon Burgers with Mango Salsa
Wild salmon is one of the best food sources for omega-3 fatty acids. They can help to keep inflammation under control. Perfect swap for meat patty to serve at your BBQ. |

Cauliflower “Couscous” Salad
Instead of using quinoa, I have decided to go for a lower carb option and incorporating cauliflower rice into this recipe. You can barely tell the difference and will save yourself a ton of calories and carbs! Perfect side dish. |

Super Green Salad
My cousin Mila’s famous Super Green Salad is not only beautiful but so crisp and refreshing. |

Chicken Fajita Lettuce Cups
These chicken fajitas are such a great alternative to the usual heavy carb-loaded fajitas. I skipped the beans, corn and tortilla wraps and instead used plenty of veggies and romaine lettuce hearts. The combination of fiber and protein will keep you full throughout the entire evening. |

Watermelon Popsicles
These popsicles are the perfect treat to enjoy with your kids by the pool. They are loaded with vitamins A, B6, C and antioxidants. Skip the sugary loaded store-bought popsicles and make your own! |
