Clients always ask me the same question: Nedi, What’s In Your Fridge?
So I thought I’d take the time to give you a closer look into my personal lifestyle and food habits. Most of the foods in today’s grocery aisles are filled with GMO’s, MSG, chemicals, artificial colors & additives. Additives are proven to create extra work for the immune system, causing cancer and disease in the liver, kidneys, and blood, and a weakened immune system that allows carcinogens and pathogens to enter into the body.
Avoiding these harmful grocery choices is important when living a #healthywithnedi lifestyle. One of the first steps I make every client do is load up the fridge with nutritious, organic produce! Buying organic, non GMO products assures you that these products have been grown and handled according to strict natural procedures without the use of chemicals. So what are my go-to items? Check out my list below and jot down your favorites for your next Whole Foods run!
What I Keep In My Fridge:
Leafy Greens
Kale, spinach, arugula, broccoli, bak choy, parsley, cilantro. When you nourish yourself with greens, you may naturally crowd out the foods that make you sick. Green vegetables are high- alkaline foods. Alkaline minerals in our bodies neutralize acidic conditions caused by the environment and therefore greens help to replenish our alkaline mineral stores and filter out pollutants.
Veggies & Fruits
Asparagus, peppers, cucumber, celery, mushrooms, avocado, carrots, tomato, squash, pumpkin, beets, garlic, ginger, bananas, kiwi, berries, pomegranate, grapefruit, lemons, and limes.
Good For The Gut Foods
Kimchi, sauerkraut, probiotic beverages such as beet kvass & Kombucha.
High Quality Protein
Greek plain yogurt, grass-fed cheese, organic almond & coconut milk (free from carrageenan), grass-fed butter, free-range eggs. If you choose to consume animal protein, it is important to buy organic, grass-fed forms.
Seafood
A lean, healthy source of protein and the oily kinds (salmon, tuna, sardines, etc) contain heart and brain-healthy omega-3’s. Always buy wild fish. Avoid farm raised as it can be high in mercury, chemicals, and GMOs.
